DOES IT COST TO JOIN EPOCH ISLAND?
No, currently, there are no membership or Citizen fees to become an Epoch Islander.
You simply need to hold any amount of the vEPOCH currency. The Islanders can vote to charge for Citizenship in the future.
WHY DOES EPOCH ISLAND NEED A CURRENCY?
In short, if Epoch Island did not have its own currency, it would need to adopt the monetary policy of a pre-existing currency. While Bitcoin and Ethereum are important assets, Epoch Island needs a currency that can be 100% controlled by the Epoch Islanders.
CAN I EARN CRYPTO BY JOINING THE ISLAND?
Yes. There are three types of rewards that Epoch Islanders earn for holding vEPOCH:
- Treasury Rewards: At any time, Epoch Islanders can vote to distribute capital from the Treasury to themselves.
- Swap Rewards: Anytime someone swaps the EPOCH token, a 5% reward is earned by the Islanders
- Loyalty Rewards: Anytime someone exits Epoch Island before their time commitment is complete, they must pay back their Treasury Rewards. These EPOCH tokens are redistributed to active Epoch Islanders.
IS EPOCH ISLAND A REAL PHYSICAL ISLAND?
No, not yet.
However, it is our goal to acquire land to own a real physical island with a living and working population.
Attaining physical land is step 6 of our pathway to diplomacy.

Through immutable code and Network States, we now have the technology and resources to opt out of the regimes that aim to control us.
